SAFN and C&A invite graduate students, early career professionals, and those seeking career changes to participate in this academic coaching workshop with Adrienne Posner, from Adrienne Posner Consulting and The Professor is Out. Participants can register here.
Adrienne has years of experience working with over 300 graduate students and faculty to explore career options. The workshop will focus on exploring alternative academic (alt-ac) or non-academic career paths, focused primarily but not exclusively in food and agriculture careers for our members.
The interactive coaching session will take place virtually on Friday, October 18 from 11 am – 2 pm EST. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with Adrienne and other attendees through a series of interactive coaching sessions. The sessions will take place in three parts that will each include a brief presentation of key ideas followed by an interactive Q&A and break.
In Part I: “A guide to the non-academic job market,” Adrienne will cover the basics and big questions about non-academic careers. In Part 2: “How to look for and find non-academic jobs” participants will learn how to find jobs they are actually qualified to do. In Part 3: “Preparing non-academic job application materials,” participants will practice building a good resume and cover letter.
Co-sponsored by SAFN and C&A, this event aims to help attendees identify potential non-academic job opportunities and develop strategies for transitioning into rewarding positions that align with their interests and expertise in food, nutrition, and agriculture.
